On November 18, Piedmont Community Foundation (PCF) hosted a public open house at the Middleburg Community Center to celebrate ten years of work in building a base for providing charitable resources permanently to the Piedmont region.
PCF President, Brad Davis, said, “Since its inception PCF has made over $ 800,000 in distributions to service needs of the community and PCF expects that number to grow exponentially with the passage of time. More than 100 local grants have been made to date.”
There is perhaps one common denominator which helps to motivate those who support and make a gift to PCF. It is love of place and the community in which we live. Through PCF we are able to connect with that place and with the people who make up that community.
The Council on Foundations has expressed it well; “ community foundations go beyond simply making grants that advance charitable activities. They also identify current and emerging issues, channel resources to address their communities’ needs, and help their regions prepare for the future.” Nationally community foundations serve tens of thousands of donors, administer over $ 40 billion in charitable funds, and address the core concerns of some 700 communities and regions.
The event was sponsored by Middleburg Bank. More information is available through Executive Director Karen Krei, at info@piedmontcf.org of call 540-687-5223.
