Cats and dogs and horses and roosters and rabbits, pigeons, donkeys and, from time to time, a goat, are all hoping you will include Middleburg Humane Foundation on your Christmas list.

The weathered country house tucked discretely into the surrounding fields at the intersection of Route 55 and Whiting Road near The Plains is home to all these individuals and more and, more than ever, they need your help.

When Hilleary Bogley founded Middleburg Humane Foundation twenty-two years ago, she could not have anticipated the number of pets and farm animals that would need her help.  The non-profit farm shelter is now a safe haven for abused, neglected and ‘at risk’ animals large and small.
“Recently we took in 35 desperate cats, and last year we welcomed a group of terribly mistreated horses,” the intense young founder explained.  “Sometimes I simply don’t know how we’ll be able to care for them all.”

“Without donations from the young and old who care deeply for animals as we do, we simply could not continue our work.”

Your holiday donation of $5, $50 or $500 will help ensure that the animals in this region receive the care they need and deserve.

Northern Virginia residents are often shocked and surprised to learn that animal neglect and abuse happen here.  Animals are such a big and happy part of life in this region that learning how often Middleburg Humane has to step up to save starved, abandoned or wounded animals comes as very unwelcome news.

The good news is that there is a local foundation that provides the highest order of care for these animals until new homes can be found for them.
On five bucolic acres of pristine pastures and kennels, Middleburg Humane Foundation provides exceptional care and nourishing feeding to animals who have given up all hope of a happy life.

“We believe all animals deserve a life free from pain and fear,” Hilleary emphasizes.  “Please help us provide safety and sanitary living conditions for these animals.”
