It’s time to get excited and start planning for July 8-10 when the Land Rover Great Meadow International, Presented by Adequan®, brings the top eventing horses and riders to Great Meadow for the first-ever FEI Nations Cup™ CICO*** to be held in North America.

In plain English, this is your opportunity to witness world-class eventing in The Plains. The beautiful countryside at Great Meadow adds to the excitement and enjoyment even as it sets a superb stage for this international competition. This is the last competitive outing for the Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team before they travel to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Olympic teams from Germany and Great Britain have confirmed they’re planning to compete in the Nations Cup.

The GMI Nations Cup is a great outing for family, friends and/or work, whether you choose one, two or all three days. The action begins on Friday when the gates open at 1 p.m. – #FreeOnFriday! You’ll be able to check out the cross-country course to pick your vantage points on Sunday. The Meadow Market will be open to the delight of all shopaholics and equestrian/country couture fashionistas.

At 3 p.m. on Friday, the official FEI first “jog” takes place at the “Polo Lane.” Each horse must pass this nail-biting veterinary inspection that examines the horses’ soundness. No matter how well prepared and fit for the event, the bottom line is for each horse to trot (jog) sound in front of a jury of equine veterinarians. Anything can happen. An exuberant fit horse might perform airs above the ground and strike its own leg or spook at something and step on itself. Any sign of unevenness in the 2-beat rhythm of the trot could result in being eliminated.

The Nations Cup Welcome Party & Opening takes place from 6-8 p.m., Friday. The party is open to all as part of #FreeOnFriday! with bar and food available for purchase. VIP ticket holders will be treated to gourmet hospitality in the VIP tent.

On Saturday, dressage tests begin at 7:40 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m. The Meadow Market is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The show jumping phase runs from 5 to 7 o’clock. A ticket is required for the VIP Dinner/Dance Party that runs from 6 to 11 p.m.

On Sunday, gates open at 7:30 and the Cross Country runs from 9:30 to 11:30. Please note: if you purchase a Cross Country Tailgate, you must be parked in your spot by 8:30 a.m. Make sure you plan for an early arrival and allow plenty of time for traffic, because no amount of sweet talking will get you to your vantage point if you miss the cut-off time. The presentation of awards will take place at Fleming Arena at noon.

General Admission tickets are $30/carload one day and $50/carlood both days. Remember, #FreeOnFriday! You might enjoy the Red Ribbon General Admission package for two at $200, which includes one 2-day GA car pass and two individual VIP tickets for gourmet lunch on Saturday between the dressage and the show jumping. Ringside Rail Boxes are also going fast: $250 for two 2-day GA car passes and reserved box on the rail for 6 guests on Saturday.

VIP Hospitality tickets are going fast. If you’re interested in a VIP package or VIP individual tickets, now is the time. Cross Country Tailgate tickets are still available, but do it soon. Great Meadow is in the heart of a huge eventing community and they know all about cross country day. For more information, check out – you might even get to pose for a selfie with a chinchilla.
