There was a time in the living memory of all too many of us in Loudoun County when the October 1, 2016, vandalism and defacement with “white power” graffiti of the historic, one-room “Ashburn Colored School” (its name alone speaks volumes) would have attracted little, if any, attention.

No more.

Now our elected chief law enforcement officer, Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman, both praises and thanks “the community and our local leaders” not only for “their outpouring of support” but for their  “ understanding the significance of the offenses.”

Individuals, organizations, non-profits, corporations from all over the County, and the world, united to do their best to set things right.

The arc of the moral universe is, indeed long, sometimes excruciatingly so. But it does, indeed, bend toward justice.
